BEE Bursary Support

The Citrus Academy assists black economic empowerment citrus enterprises to develop their internal capacity, by providing financial support to persons related to the enterprise to access quality formal education.

The Citrus Academy funds a maximum of 50% of the student’s study costs, with the citrus enterprise responsible for the remainder of the fees, accommodation, books, etc.

  • Applications for the following academic year are open from 1 June to 15 September every year.
  • Study the information in the BEEBS information pack carefully and ensure that you understand the process.
  • Determine whether the citrus enterprise qualifies to take part.
  • Identify qualifying candidate(s).
  • Identify the appropriate learning institutions and course for each candidate.
  • Complete a special BEEBS Citrus Academy Bursary Fund application online.
  • Once your application is approved,  you will sign a Memorandum of Agreement between each successful candidate and citrus enterprise and a Memorandum of Understanding between the citrus enterprise and the Citrus Academy.
  • Enrol / register the students at the selected academic institutions.
  • In addition to completing the application, you need to submit a copy of your ID document and your latest academic results.
  • After the closing date, applications are listed in a database, scored according to a weighted scoring system, and ranked.
  • Every effort is made to inform students before the middle of December about the success of their applications. At the very latest students will be informed by the middle of January.

The citrus enterprise undertakes to provide the student with opportunities to gain vocational training.

The student works time back in the industry on completion of his / her studies as per the Bursary Fund policy, at the citrus enterprise or at an organisation designated by the citrus enterprise.

Applications are open from 1 June-15 September

Citrus Academy is not an academic institution. We offer bursary support to students studying towards agricultural-related qualifications at tertiary institutions in South Africa.
